Three Peaks Challenge
Congratulations to the eleven-strong team from SNG Barratt who took part in the infamous Three Peaks Challenge on 27th May, a journey on foot up and down the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales to be completed within 24 hours.
The intrepid adventurers, with no previous climbing experience, withstood blazing sunshine, cold winds and snow-covered peaks to complete the challenge with time to spare and raise over £4200 for two very worthy charities: The British Heart Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Support.
What began as a seed of an idea at an internal meeting back in 2022, slowly gathered momentum until the beginning of this year when the team started introducing themselves to hill walks and eventually mountains in preparation for the grueling trial ahead.
If you’re not familiar with the challenge, The Three Peaks incorporates Scotland’s highest mountain Ben Nevis (1345m), England’s highest point Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon in Wales (1085m). Ascending and descending a total distance of 37km plus traveling hundreds of miles, all within 24 hours is no mean feat, so many congratulations to Team SNGB for their incredible achievement.
